Frequently Asked Questions

Which bench do we sit on?

Two teams per bench, your team will remain there even when not playing to avoid losing time entering and exiting the ice. If you need anything, water, tape, etc please let Charles Burney know and he will relay the message to one of our off-ice staff.

  • Hydras and Hellhounds are going to be on the home bench.

  • Leprechauns and Bigfoot are Away.

What are the rules and gameplay?

  • 5 Minute Warmup

  • Five - 7-minute games

  • Red Line offsides (Sorry “Cherry pickers”! This rule gets scrutiny, but we have tried using the “two-line” pass rule and regular offsides, which slowed the game down significantly. This takes a shift or two to get used to but once you know how to utilize the extra space in the zone it helps open up the ice!)

  • No Icing

  • Winner will be determined by Wins(2pts)+Ties(1pt)+Losses(0)-Penalties(1pt)

  • 1 Minute Penalties. Mouthing off at the refs, Major Penalty or Fighting is subject to ejection immediately.

How will I know when my team is up next?

  • Kyle, our scorekeeper for this event, will announce over the PA which teams are next. We will also have a tablet on each bench where you can view the schedule and up-to-the-minute scores. You must refresh the browser, but the information will be there! Unfortunately, the program we use does not update the points being deducted for penalties, but there will be notes below the games. We will also have the refs check in between games to update everyone.

How is the winner determined?

  • Winner will be determined by Wins(2pts)+Ties(1pt)+Losses(0)-Penalties(1pt)

  • At the end of the event, if there is a tie for total points, a shootout will take place between the tied teams. Three skaters per round.

Will there be somewhere for me to get my skates sharpened?

Where do participants and fans park/enter?

North entrance at the loading dock. We will have our tents up.

What to expect!

We will enter the North end of the arena in the North Lot and through the Loading Dock.

  • Final Registration will begin at 1:15 pm. Please arrive as early as possible to get jerseys, and socks handed out. and verify paperwork is submitted to PNC. Registration will end at 2:45 pm. Any particpants that do not check in by this time may not be able to enter the arena.

  • Skate sharpening will be available until 2:30 pm. And can be prepaid on our website MCHL Store (mchlinc.shop)

  • Tailgating is allowed; however, any participants cannot consume alcohol before the event due to liability purposes. You are welcome to have a postgame event with some brews, though! Drink at your own risk.

  • All skaters enter the ice at section 115. The away team locker rooms are not available as they will still be set up for visiting teams.

  • Particpant’s will use the Green Room, which can hold 16 to 20, dressing room #2 which can hold 8-12, and dressing room #3 for females as needed, or balance that out between the green room and dressing room #2. Dressing room # 1 is for rfs, and staff.

  • We will try to get individual pictures as we enter the ice. Please strike your pose and get on the ice as soon as possible so we don’t lose time.

  • The game will be from 3:45 pm to 5:15 pm; they will let us enter the building at 3:15 pm.

  • 5 Minute Warmup

  • Five - 8-minute games

  • Team Pictures will be taken at the end of the game in this order. First place team, Second place Team, Third place team, and last place. Followed by a picture of everyone, including support staff.

  • Postgame Tailgate Beer will be provided for participants. Please invite your fans to come to hang out too! We are trying to find a food truck for food to purchase afterward. If you know someone, please let us know at info@mchlinc.com.
